"A Pirate Says Arrr" - Backyardigans, 2005

Well, now they've done it - pirates have taken over a Saudi VLCC-sized tanker full of crude oil. Given that I was an international crude oil trader in my previous life, this story has a particular fascination to me. Although I had some weird things happen to cargoes I was dealing with (a crew mutiny being one of the strangest), never did I have a problem with pirates.

Personally, I wouldn't mess with the Saudis.

And when I heard the story this morning, I couldn't help but think that this should have happened back in September, during Talk Like a Pirate Day.

We'll see how this story ends...

I had three interesting vessels:
An asphalt tanker than sank off the cost of Massachussetts, an oil tanker that I had arrested and sold for lack of paying a bunkers bill and one that we shared in the Gulf Coast that had a fire onboard and leaked crude oil into the Gulf. But never a pirate!

Modern day pirates are every bit as nasty as the likes of Edward Teach and Calico Jack Rackham. And to make matters worse, they have machine guns!

Let's hope the whole thing is resolved without harm to the crew.

A crude oil trader 'in a previous life'? Blimey.

In my previous life I was a Roman centurion called Delusionus.

And before that I was a tadpole in Norwich.
