"Too Possessive and You Know It Baby" - Keith Hudson, 1974

As we were waiting for John's laser retinal repair last week, I noticed the following sign on the wall of the hospital's waiting room...

Perhaps, because this is posted in a waiting room for patients with eye problems, the NHS/hospital thinks that no one can see well enough to notice their appalling use of apostrophes!

"Complicated" - The N Result, 2009

Since my last post, my brother and his daughters have come over to the UK to stay with us and have now gone home again. John and I miss them all, and we hope that time with us has helped their healing process.

During their visit, we had another complication: John developed two large tears in the retina of his left eye, after shrinkage of the vitreous in that eye put a strain on the retina. He had two types of repair in The Oxford Eye Hospital (part of the John Radcliffe Hospital) on Tuesday, and so far so good.
That leads me to tonight's topic.

We were watching the athletics from Berlin over the weekend. As many of you must have also done, we watched (with mouths wide open!) as Usain Bolt broke his own world record in the 100 meters.

Ahead of the race, one of the BBC's commentators was talking about how American runner Tyson Gay's physical condition was a bit up-in-the-air. He said "There's a question mark over Gay's groin."

That's funny...because before John had the freezing treatment on his torn retina (as we waited in the Day Surgery center), he had an arrow over his eye....
